Product Review: Soap & Glory - Flake Away

A few weeks ago, my cousin went on a trip to Singapore. Before she left, she said that she'd bring me back some Soap and Glory stuff from Sephora (a cosmetics store) and I didn't argue. Soap and Glory is a British beauty brand that sells an array of amazing body scrubs, lotions, face masks, make-up and skincare products and if there's one thing I like more than the products themselves, it's the cute, vintage packaging they come in!

The body scrub my cousin brought back for me is the Flake Away body scrub and it's honestly one of the best scrubs to have ever graced my skin, and trust me, there's been a fair few. The little grains of sugar and sea salt leave your skin feeling super smooth and silky (hence, then name 'flake away') whilst the Shea butter, sweet almond oil and peach seed powder leave it smelling wonderful. It's a win-win situation. The only downside I could possibly think of is that when you're in the shower, and you're happily scrubbing away, some water gets into the container, even if you turn the shower head away. Normally, I just tip majority of the water out and seal it shut, but even then a tiny bit remains and it causes the sugar and salt to dissolve. Don't get me wrong though, I would take water in the scrub over no scrub at all any day!

I only know of two places in Sydney that sell at least some of the Soap and Glory range, Myer (at Pitt Street Mall in the CBD) and Mecca Maxima in Parramatta Westfield.

                                 

                                 

                                         

How to Wear: Mum's Clothes

I must admit, my mum has some pretty good pieces in her wardrobe. And no, she didn't pay me to say that. She has quite a few shoes that I'm absolutely head-over-heels for (no pun intended) and a few jackets that aren't too shabby either. So today, when thinking of what to wear, I thought of the perfect outfit for this dreary, rainy, grey, Sydney weather we're experiencing at the moment. I'm wearing two things from my mum's wardrobe, the coat and the pair of brogues. She bought the shoes when we went to Spain, about a year ago, from a small, family-owned, store in Sevilla and I can't even begin to explain my love for them.

Birkenstock

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't posted in a while, school only just started about a week ago (yuck!) and things have been a little bit crazy. Anyway, I though I'd just make a quick little post about a good, old, German sandal called Birkenstock.

They're back. The humble Birkenstock sandal is back and it's taking the fashion world by storm! It's incredibly strange seeing fashion-froward people such as Ashley Olsen and Heidi Klum dressed in them,  especially since they were once (and to some people, still are) a cringe-worthy shoe. 

I always used to find them horribly ugly (especially when I was little). My dad's pair/s were strictly reserved for slipping on when taking out the rubbish or hanging the laundry, for me at least. I can't say the same about him. I'd never ever ever thought of them as being in any way fashionable or stylish, however, my views on the once horribly ugly, German sandals have changed drastically.

I'm now silently praying (and also cringing at the idea that I could possibly like my dad's sandals) that my feet grow just a tiny bit bigger so that I fit into them. I see them as the ultimate fashion statement and as an extra layer to add to an outfit. I especially love they way people wear them with baggy jeans and loose tops or with trackie-style pants (like Bassike have done in their latest collection).

 I don't know who this girl is, but I do know that I love the way she's wearing Birk's. Dungarees are one of my favourite items in my closet right now, and I love the way she's paired them with the sandals and white singlet.

Ashley Olsen looking as good as ever in double denim and a pair of Birkenstock's. Whilst they're not the typical 'Arizona' style, she's still managed to make them look effortlessly fashionable and chic. 

A Day in the City

Hey guys! I haven't updated in a few days so I thought I'd just make a quick post about what I wore and what I did today. Here it is!

Outfit of the Day

Rozelle Markets:

Rozelle Markets are the best place to go if you're looking for cute vintage stuff or one-off second-hand items. There's heaps of cool little knick-knacks and treasures, unique items, vintage cameras (I wanted to buy every single one of them), cute ornaments and some one-off bargain pieces to add to your wardrobe. They're on every Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. till 4 p.m. at Rozelle Public School.

The photos below aren't from today, but they're from the other weekend I was there (I just can't stay away).

These flowers were so pretty and so fresh and they smelt divine. I wanted to buy them all and keep them in my room until they were dead and brown. Who doesn't love fresh flowers on a Sunday morning?

I found these cute little vintage teacups at a stall out the front of the school and I fell in-love with them. The floral patterns on them looked so dainty and classic, and the pastel colours were beautiful. When I looked at them I was instantly transported to a small cottage in the English countryside, having my afternoon tea.

Whilst some of these vintage dolls scared the life out of me, I couldn't resist taking a photo. Some of them were so old and used and I kept thinking 'I wonder who played with these and where are they now?'. I love vintage toys. 

Bourke Street Bakery - Surry Hills:

Bourke Street Bakery in Surry Hills is one of my favourite places. It's a cute little corner-shop style cafe that sells homemade treats and loaves of fresh bread, all of which are to die for.

 This is what most of the houses look like in Surry Hills. Victorian terraces and converted warehouses are two of my favourite styles of houses/apartments/lofts.
